JYOTI SARUP KANYA ASRA, registered in 1998, has been formed with a aim to help the destitute, and abandoned girls irrespective of their religion, caste or creed.
Catering to the girls for more than 15 years now, JSKAS is a home not only for girls in Punjab, but all over India. Considering the social imbalances in our society, we are doing our best to lend a helping hand to the less fortunate girls.
Currently there are girls ranging from two year infants to twenty three years and the number is growing rapidly. Only those girls are admitted whose both parents have passed away (a formal proof such as death certificates) and girls whose single parent is incapable of taking care of them due to ill circumstances such as being physically /mentally / economically challenged, are also given shelter. The girls are provided education in established schools and colleges of Kharar, S.A.S Nagar and Chandigarh based on their mental ability and interests. Elder girls are given support for higher studies and are also helped to find suitable jobs.
Our 4 girls got married after getting education and enjoying healthy life at different places of Punjab i.e. Batala, Ludhiana,Beas and Sri Hargobindpur.
JYOTI SARUP KANYA ASRA serves for our society for the betterment and upliftment of girls who are deprived of family care and protection.
It was in 1998 when Dr. Harminder Singh, being a medical professional, visited one of the boy’s orphanages in Punjab and came across an incident, where the organization refused to accommodate the destitute girls. He was further taken aback realizing that there was no home in the region to accommodate these girls. Venting his compassion for these poor, needy and deprived girls, Dr. Singh decided to start JSKAS. .So, he started with nine orphans girls, who had lost their parents during the bad times in Punjab. Since then he has dedicated his life to orphans, who had been unloved and uncared. Subsequently Dr. Singh has been joined by other like minded and public spirited persons with an aim to provide homely environment and education to disadvantaged girls.
Due to generous contribution of the well wishers in India and aboard JSKAS proceeded toward its goal of providing comprehensive education and a home for these children.
Our mission is not only to take care of their basic necessities but also offer them personal care, good living conditions, proper education, and security, which they have been deprived of.
With the help of compassionate donors JSKAS enables every girl to earn her own livelihood through educational or vocational courses according to her aptitude.
